Psychologist

Who is The Morning Psychologist?

Alissa Nichles.

Owner / Principal Psychologist

BBA/BA(psych), PGDip Applied Psychology

Alissa is a Registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Agency (AHPRA).

Experience

Alissa  has over 10 years experience working as a Psychologist. She has worked extensively with both adult and adolescent populations in private practice and community mental health settings. Through her experience, Alissa has seen first hand the benefits of accessing support early, and she strongly believes in the preventative and empowering role that psychology sessions can provide.

In addition to her therapy work, Alissa is a Research Psychologist at The Brain and Mind Centre, The University of Sydney. She feels her complimentary work as both a therapist and a mental health researcher broadens her knowledge base as a psychologist and she hopes this is reflected in the work she does with her clients.

Approach

Alissa is curious about what motivates and influences people in this thing called life. She considers it an honour to hear your stories, and to help support you through life's challenges, both big and small.

As a psychologist, Alissa's goal is to help you develop helpful and effective ways to deal with challenges as they arise, and to empower you to take steps towards feeling more content and fulfilled. She primarily works within a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptace and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework. However, above all, she is interested to hear your unique story and understand your needs within this context.

"At the end of the day we are all human, and it is that shared experience of life, with all its ups and downs, that connects us and helps me to understand and empathise with my clients."

Away from the therapy room

You can find Alissa swimming at her local beach, painting, perusing the local markets, enjoying a morning coffee at her favourite cafe by the water, soaking up the sunshine wherever she can find it.
