FAQs

How are the sessions conducted?

All sessions currently take place via zoom or telephone. You can access therapy conveniently in the comfort of your own home.

What time can I see a psychologist at The Morning Psychologist?

We offer sessions from 7:30am for the early risers! Our last session is at 11:30am. Each session runs for 50 minutes.

How many sessions will I need?

This is dependent on your individual needs. The average number of sessions is between 6-10 sessions. These can be spaced out fortnightly to monthly. This will be discussed in your initial session with your psychologist.

How long does each session last?

Your psychology sessions will run for 50 minutes. This allows for 10 minutes after the session to process payments and to book in follow-up sessions.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No, you do not need a referral from your GP to book in a psychology session. However, if you wish to claim a Medicare rebate you will need to get a referral letter and a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP prior to attending your first session.

A MHCP is a document that your GP will prepare. It outlines your main mental health concerns and the treatment that you GP recommends.

What’s a Medicare rebate?

You will be eligible for a Medicare rebate if you have a referral letter and a MHCP from your GP. A Medicare rebate will allow you to get a refund of $93.00 per session, up to 10 sessions per calendar year. You will pay the full fee upon completion of each session, and we then process the Medicare rebate on your behalf. The rebate amount will be deposited into the bank account that you have registered with Medicare. On average you will receive the rebate within 24 - 48hrs.

How do I book in for a psychology session?

You can book your sessions online via the Book Now link. You will choose between a Phone or Zoom consultation and then follow the prompts to select a day and time that works for you. If you book in a zoom session, a zoom link will be sent to your email address just prior to our session commencing.

Alternatively you can contact us via our contact page. We will then get in contact with you via your preferred method and we can book a session in on your behalf.

Once your booking is complete, an online intake and consent form will be sent to your email. We ask that you please complete and sign this form electronically and submit it back to us prior to your initial session commencing.

How is payment made?

Payment is processed at the end of each session. As part of the initial intake form, we ask you to provide your credit card details. These details will be stored securely in our payment processing system. At the end of each session the psychologist will process the payment on your behalf using the details you have provided. If you are claiming a Medicare rebate, we will also process this rebate on your behalf at the time of processing payment. The Medicare rebate will be deposited into the bank account you have registered with Medicare within 24-48hrs.
